Breffni Park — commercially known as Kingspan Breffni — is the home of Cavan GAA, located on Park Lane to the south of Cavan town in County Cavan. Named after the ancient Gaelic kingdom of Breffni that historically encompassed Cavan and Leitrim, the stadium opened in 1923 and celebrated its centenary in 2023. With a capacity of approximately 32,000 (including 6,000 covered seats) and one of the rare GAA grounds in Ireland equipped with floodlights, Kingspan Breffni is a stadium of genuine historic and sporting significance. Over its century of existence, the ground has hosted Ulster Championship battles, Allianz League fixtures, Allianz Hurling League finals, and major international occasions including two International Rules Series matches. In October 2024, Cavan GAA unveiled ambitious plans for a major new stand and an adjacent Regional Sports Campus, signalling a bold vision for the next century of GAA in the Breffni County. Kingspan, a global building materials company headquartered in County Cavan, holds the stadium naming rights.
Breffni Park was opened on 13 October 1923 at a ceremony attended by Eoin O'Duffy, who delivered a rousing speech on the GAA's role in Irish society. The stadium takes its name from the kingdom of Breffni, the historic Gaelic territory of the Ó Ruairc dynasty encompassing modern Cavan and Leitrim. For a century, Breffni Park has served as the sporting and cultural heartbeat of the Breffni County. The ground hosted memorable occasions including the 2005 All-Ireland SFC qualifier where Cavan edged Donegal, and a 2004 Division 1 match where Cavan defeated reigning All-Ireland champions Armagh. In 2006, the ground made history as the venue for the first ever women's International Rules match, between Ireland and Australia. In 2009, Breffni Park hosted two National Hurling League finals. The 2013 International Rules Series also opened at the ground. Kingspan, a leading global manufacturer of insulation and building products headquartered near Cavan, became the stadium's naming rights partner. The stadium celebrated its centenary year in 2023 with a range of commemorative events.
Matchday at Kingspan Breffni has a wonderfully intimate, community-centred GAA atmosphere. As supporters stream in from Cavan town and the surrounding parishes, the ground fills with the blue and white of the Breffni Blues. Ulster Championship days in particular generate a passionate roar from the terraces and stand. The stadium's floodlights allow for gripping evening fixtures, adding a distinctive atmosphere to competitive league and championship games. The food concessions at Breffni Park have earned a particular reputation among visiting supporters for quality burgers and curry chips at reasonable prices. The community feel of the ground — open since 1923 — gives it a character and warmth that more modern stadiums can sometimes lack.

This gallery would showcase Cavan GAA memorabilia and tell the story of GAA in the Breffni County across the past century. Completion is subject to planning approval for the new stadium development.
