Compact rectangular community ground — single Main Stand opposite open terraces, with covered terracing at each end
Brewery Field is a historic Welsh community rugby ground with four sides surrounding the pitch. The Main Stand (capacity 1,100 seated) is the only fully-covered seated stand. Three sides of standing terraces (some partially covered) make up the remaining 6,900 of the 8,000 total capacity. The ground is owned by Brewery Field Ltd. A new state-of-the-art 500-lux floodlighting system was installed in late 2025 by Floodlighting and Electrical to meet professional URC broadcast standards. Additional temporary seating, pitch resurfacing, and enhanced digital infrastructure were also added to prepare the ground for Ospreys' 2025-26 temporary tenancy. The grass playing surface is well-regarded for its quality.
Brewery Field (officially the Electric Brewery Field for sponsorship reasons since November 2025) is an 8,000-capacity historic Welsh rugby ground located on Tondu Road in Bridgend, Wales. The ground is the long-term home of Bridgend Ravens (Super Rygbi Cymru) — the celebrated semi-professional club founded in 1878 and famously a "hotbed" of Welsh rugby talent that has produced 108 Welsh internationals and 23 British & Irish Lions players including JPR Williams, Gareth Thomas and Rob Howley. For the 2025-26 URC season only, Brewery Field serves as the temporary home of regional side Ospreys while their long-term home at St Helen's Sports Ground in Swansea is redeveloped ahead of a permanent return in 2026-27. The 1,100-seated stadium has 6,900 standing capacity across its terraces, with the current record attendance of 8,159 set when Ospreys hosted Cardiff Rugby on 1 January 2024. A new state-of-the-art 500-lux floodlighting system was installed in late 2025 by Floodlighting and Electrical to meet professional URC standards for Ospreys' temporary stay, alongside additional temporary seating, pitch resurfacing and digital infrastructure enhancements.
The Brewery Field was purchased by the Bridgend Amateur Athletic Club shortly after World War I for £9,000, and the club erected a grandstand and pavilion and created several sports pitches for tennis, hockey, cricket and football. The ground became the home of Bridgend RFC (now Bridgend Ravens) in 1920 when the club relocated from Quarella Ground. Over more than a century, Brewery Field has hosted countless Welsh club rugby fixtures and forged its reputation as a "fortress" with a record crowd of 15,000 attending a match in 1978. The regionalisation of Welsh rugby in 2003 saw Bridgend RFC merge with Pontypridd to form the short-lived Celtic Warriors region, which played professional matches at Brewery Field — including a 2003-04 Heineken Cup pool game against London Wasps that drew nearly 11,000 fans. Following the Warriors' dissolution after one season, Bridgend reformed as a semi-professional outfit. The ground has hosted multiple sponsorship names including Riverside Hardware Brewery Field (2010-13), Bridgend Ford Brewery Field (2013-17), Morganstone Brewery Field (2017-21), Timbuild Brewery Field (2021-22), Dunraven Brewery Field (2022-25), and most recently the Electric Brewery Field (November 2025-present). In August 2025, Ospreys CEO Lance Bradley announced that Brewery Field would host all Ospreys home URC and EPCR Challenge Cup matches throughout the 2025-26 season as a temporary measure while St Helen's Sports Ground in Swansea undergoes major redevelopment. The current record attendance of 8,159 was set on 1 January 2024 when Ospreys hosted Cardiff Rugby in a previous one-off URC visit to the ground.
Brewery Field offers a uniquely intimate matchday atmosphere — one of the most compact venues in the URC, putting fans within touching distance of the action on all four sides. The Bridgend community has rolled out a warm welcome to Ospreys for their temporary 2025-26 stay, and matchdays have a distinctive "club rugby" feel that contrasts with the larger URC grounds. The ground is most famous for its history as a Bridgend RFC fortress, with generations of local supporters singing Welsh hymns and rugby anthems from the terraces. The compact bowl design and relatively low seated capacity (1,100) ensures that the majority of the crowd are standing — an increasingly rare experience in modern professional rugby that adds to the ground's historic, traditional Welsh club feel.
Brewery Field does not currently offer a regularly scheduled public stadium tour programme. As a historic local community ground and the temporary home of Ospreys for the 2025-26 URC season only, the venue is not configured for tourist visits in the way that some larger URC stadiums are. Bridgend Ravens occasionally organise bespoke group visits for schools, community groups, and supporter clubs by prior arrangement via bridgendravens.co.uk. The Ospreys' long-term stadium tour offering will resume at the redeveloped St Helen's Sports Ground in Swansea from the 2026-27 season.
Brewery Field does not feature a permanent dedicated museum, but the ground has extensive historic photographs, memorabilia and honours boards displayed throughout the clubhouse, Main Stand and hospitality areas celebrating over 100 years of Bridgend rugby. Bridgend Ravens have produced 108 Welsh internationals and 23 British & Irish Lions players in their history — a remarkable record for any club, and the heritage is proudly displayed throughout the ground. Legends honoured at Brewery Field include JPR Williams, Gareth Thomas, Rob Howley, Allan Bateman, Howard Davies, and Steve Fenwick. The famous Brewery Field "fortress" tradition includes a 1978 attendance record of 15,000.
