Bridgestone Arena is the home of the Nashville Predators (NHL), located at 501 Broadway in the heart of downtown Nashville's legendary entertainment district. Opened in 1996 as Nashville Arena, the venue has carried multiple names — Gaylord Entertainment Center, Sommet Center, and since 2010, Bridgestone Arena following a naming rights agreement with Nashville-based Bridgestone Americas. It seats 17,159 for ice hockey, 19,395 for basketball, and up to 20,000 for centre-stage concerts. A two-time Pollstar Concert Industry Arena of the Year, Bridgestone Arena is one of the busiest arenas in North America, hosting over 100 events annually including the Predators, the annual CMA Awards, the CMT Music Awards, SEC basketball tournaments, UFC events, and world-class concert tours. The arena's location on Lower Broadway — adjacent to Nashville's iconic honky-tonk strip and its neon-lit country music bars — gives it the most vibrant pre-game and post-game environment in the NHL. Fans strolling down Broadway before a Predators game pass the Ryman Auditorium, the Country Music Hall of Fame, and dozens of live music venues. The Nashville Visitor Center occupies the arena's tower at the corner of 5th and Broadway. The arena also hosted the NHL Entry Draft in 2003 and 2023, and played host to Games 3, 4, and 6 of the 2017 Stanley Cup Finals — the closest the Predators have come to winning the Cup. Bridgestone Arena was ranked the loudest arena in professional sports in 2017. The Smashville fanbase — one of the NHL's most passionate — is responsible for goal celebrations, songs, and the infamous catfish-throwing tradition (a Tennessee take on Detroit's octopus custom). The arena's acoustics and low ceiling contribute to a crowd noise that visiting teams consistently cite as among the most challenging in the league. In April 2025, the Nashville Predators announced a $650 million renovation programme — part of approximately $1 billion in total investment over 15 years — that will add 170,000 square feet, 600–700 new seats, wider concourses, new premium clubs, upgraded locker rooms, a reimagined Broadway-facing outdoor plaza with a large LED canopy, and a relocated main entrance on Rep. John Lewis Way. Phase 1 enabling work began in summer 2026, with major construction planned for summers 2027–2029 and completion targeted for 2030. A hotel tower at the corner of Rep. John Lewis Way and Demonbreun Street is also planned. The renovation will transform Smashville's home into one of North America's premier sports and entertainment facilities while maintaining its essential Nashville character.
The Music City Star commuter rail operates Monday through Friday, stopping at Riverfront Station — approximately a 15-minute walk from Bridgestone Arena. The WeGo Star connects downtown Nashville to Lebanon and eastern suburbs, running during peak commuter hours with a late Friday departure at 10:30pm — useful for evening games. Nashville does not have a light rail network, so the commuter rail is the only rail transit option. For weekend Predators games, buses and rideshare are the primary public transit options.
WeGo Public Transit operates multiple bus routes serving downtown Nashville near Bridgestone Arena, including Routes 18, 25, 93, and 96. WeGo Central, the main transit hub, is conveniently located downtown near the Municipal Auditorium. Route 18 provides airport (BNA) express service to downtown for $2 one-way. All-day unlimited-ride passes are $4. The official rideshare partner for Preds games is Lyft — designated pickup and drop-off near Demonbreun Street and 5th Avenue South. Rideshare is strongly recommended for non-downtown visitors given Nashville's limited rail network.
Bridgestone Arena is on Broadway in downtown Nashville, accessible via I-40, I-65, and I-24. Multiple garages and lots surround the arena managed by Metropolis (Official Parking Provider). Key facilities: the attached garage at the corner of 6th Ave and Demonbreun; Pinnacle Garage at 150 3rd Ave South (2 blocks away); First Baptist Church lot ($25 advance); and complimentary parking at Nissan Stadium Lot R across the Cumberland River with free shuttle service every 15–20 minutes (shuttle runs from 2 hours before until 2 hours after each game). Lot R is also walkable via the John Seigenthaler Pedestrian Bridge (10–12 minutes).
Bridgestone Arena sits at the intersection of 5th Avenue and Broadway — the most vibrant pre-game neighbourhood in the entire NHL. From any downtown hotel, the arena is an easy flat walk along Broadway past the iconic honky-tonks, the Ryman Auditorium, and the Country Music Hall of Fame. The Nashville Visitor Center is inside the arena tower at the corner of 5th and Broadway. Post-game, fans spill directly onto Lower Broadway for one of sport's great after-game experiences.
