Crypto.com Arena is one of the most storied and beloved sports venues in the world — the iconic home of the Los Angeles Lakers at the heart of the L.A. LIVE entertainment district in downtown Los Angeles, and the arena most commonly known to generations of fans as Staples Center. Opening on October 17, 1999, the arena has been the site of some of the most celebrated moments in American sports history, including ten NBA Championships (four by the Lakers and four by the Lakers' former co-tenants the Clippers), multiple Stanley Cup Finals, and tributes to some of sports and entertainment's greatest figures. The arena was renamed Crypto.com Arena in December 2021 following a $700 million, 20-year naming rights deal with Crypto.com. Located at 1111 South Figueroa Street in downtown Los Angeles adjacent to the Los Angeles Convention Center, the arena serves as the home of the Los Angeles Lakers (NBA), Los Angeles Kings (NHL), and Los Angeles Sparks (WNBA) — the Los Angeles Clippers departed for Intuit Dome in 2024. With a seating capacity of 19,079, Crypto.com Arena is one of the NBA's larger venues. The Metro A Line (Blue Line) and E Line (Expo Line) provide access from Pico Station, a short walk from the arena; the 7th Street/Metro Center Station on the Red and Purple Lines is also within reach. The arena has 3,300 on-site parking spaces in four official parking structures, with over 10,000 additional spaces within a 7-10 minute walk in nearby lots. The arena is surrounded by L.A. LIVE — one of the US's most vibrant sports and entertainment districts, featuring the Grammy Museum, Peacock Theater, JW Marriott, The Ritz-Carlton, and dozens of restaurants and bars. Kogi BBQ, LudoBird by celebrity chef Ludo Lefebvre, and DTLA Donuts are among the food highlights inside the arena. Food ordering can be placed to seats via the AXS app.
Crypto.com Arena opened on October 17, 1999, as Staples Center following a $375 million construction cost and a 20-year naming rights agreement with office supply retailer Staples. Developed by AEG (Anschutz Entertainment Group) as the anchor of what would become the L.A. LIVE entertainment district, Staples Center was the most significant downtown Los Angeles development in decades. The arena was built to house the Lakers, Clippers, Kings, and Sparks simultaneously, and immediately hosted some of the most dramatic events in sports: the Lakers won three consecutive NBA Championships from 2000 to 2002, beginning a dynasty era with Shaquille O'Neal and Kobe Bryant. Further championships followed in 2009 and 2010 with Kobe and Pau Gasol, and in 2020 with LeBron James and Anthony Davis. The Kings won the Stanley Cup in 2012 and 2014. Beyond sports, the arena hosted the 2000 Democratic National Convention, Michael Jackson's memorial (2009), and Kobe and Gianna Bryant's Celebration of Life (2020). It was renamed Crypto.com Arena in December 2021 in a $700 million deal. The Clippers departed for Intuit Dome in 2024, leaving the Lakers, Kings, and Sparks as current tenants.
